AMALOWOLowcost Food Initiative

What we do

Food, then the conditions around it.

Six programmes. Each one has its own page or section so a visitor can see what is operating now and what is still being built.

01

Food affordability

ALFI buys in bulk, works with farmers and suppliers, and uses donations and sponsorship to lower the price of selected food and household goods. The public claim is careful: about 25–50% below prevailing retail prices where that support exists, not on every line, every week.

02

Food bank and relief

Some households cannot pay even the subsidised price. The food bank collects, stores, sorts, packs and distributes food, including emergency packages and community feeding.

03

Community markets

The weekend market at Campos Stadium, Lagos Island is the flagship. People can buy, give, register, volunteer and take part in community activity in the same visit.

04

Sports and wellness

Community football and wellness sit beside the market. The public line is: using sport to fight hunger, promote wellness and build shared prosperity. Sport is additional. It is not a substitute for food.

05

Water and sanitation

Water access, hygiene education, sanitation campaigns and clean-ups can be funded as their own projects. They are not quietly paid for out of a food gift unless the donor and the policy both allow it.

06

Community participation

Volunteers, small traders, farmers, suppliers, youth and local businesses have a role. The point of the market is participation, not a queue.
